Don’t be fooled by my doggie eyeliner and elegant frame, I’m a boy alright! My name is Rakyai which means “big love” in Thailand where I'm from.

I was just a puppy when Soi Dog found me. Terrified and too weak to stand, it was clear that life on the streets had already taken its toll on me. I’ve grown so much since then, both in size and in confidence, but I’m still a little on the shy side, and it takes me time to trust new people. But that’s okay because we’ve got all the time in the world, right?

If you want to know the key to my heart, the one thing that brings all the walls tumbling down, it’s a good toy. Toys are my kryptonite, especially if they squeak! My favourite one here at the shelter is a little plush octopus. I can often be seen trotting around with it in my mouth, my ears flopping and my spotted tongue hanging out to one side as I go.

Unfortunately, I have to share the tennis balls, frisbees and even my little octopus with all the other dogs here, so if you can offer me some toys of my own, I’m sure we’ll be best friends in no time.
